The CDP is supported by more investors in Australia and Internationally than any other climate change related reporting mechanism and the Investor Group on Climate Change is pleased to continue its association. This year a number of changes will be introduced to the way the project operates in Australia and New Zealand. These changes follow feedback from reporting companies and incorporate practices that are followed by CDP internationally.
Changes to CDP this year include:
  • Increased scoring transparency - the process for scoring the submissions of Australian and New Zealand companies will now follow the CDP rating methodology. This framework will shortly be available in detail on the CDP website.

  • Feedback on how your company performed - the CDP rating scores will be published for the first time for all leading disclosers (Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index). This will bring the Australian / New Zealand CDP report into line with the Global 500 report and reports in most markets including the United Kingdom, United States, Japan and Europe. Note that companies that are not included in the CDLI will not have their scores published, but all responding companies will receive feedback in the form of a score-breakdown.

  • A focus on carbon performance as well as disclosure - this year carbon performance scores will be generated for all responding companies. The scores will be used to generate a Carbon Performance Leaders Index, but in this transition year, the scores of constituents of the Carbon Performance Index will not be published.  This will change in future years after consultations with reporting companies.
To provide assistance with your CDP response and fully explain these changes, a series of workshops will be held for reporting companies. All company representatives and their advisors are welcome to attend these events.
