The Climate Change Debate

For our next member meeting we’ll be joined by two IPCC scientists as we discuss the climate science debate in the months ahead.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the UN body for assessing the science related to climate change, and is currently preparing its Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), which assesses the physical science basis of climate change.

On Wednesday July 14th, IGCC’s Director of Policy, Erwin Jackson, will facilitate a conversation with internationally recognised scientists Adjunct Professor Bill Hare and Professor Malte Meinshausen. They will discuss the recent physical science research, and what the implications of this information will be on policymakers, investors and financial institutions globally.

While Professor Hare and Meinshausen cannot talk directly to the upcoming IPCC report (the official release is not until later in July), the scientists will be sharing recent research and projections to give investors deeper insights into the current state of science of climate change, addressing issues such as the feasibility of limiting global warming to 1.5°C degrees.

Join us at the next IGCC Member Meeting to learn more about the physical science of climate change, along with the usual updates on IGCC’s work more broadly across Australia and New Zealand.
