Sarah Barker leads the climate and sustainability risk governance team at MinterEllison and is a director of one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, the Victorian state government’s $30 billion Emergency Services & State Super. She has more than two decades’ experience as a corporate lawyer, and is regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on climate change liability risks.

Sarah’s leadership in the field of climate change-related risk and liability is internationally recognised, and has been called upon by governments and institutions from the Bank of England to the OECD and United Nations PRI. In 2017, she was as the legal risk partner in a global consortium on Financial System Risks Arising from the Energy Transition, which involved advising the European Commission on climate-related litigation risks exposures for both government and private-sector entities.

She sits on the Technical Working Group of the London-based Climate Disclosure Standards Board, teaches as part of the Cambridge University’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership (convened by EY), and is an academic visitor at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at Oxford University. In 2018 she was appointed by Standards Australia as the Australian representative on the international Expert Committee of ISO14097, the International Standards Organisation’s draft Standard for Investment, Finance and Climate Change. In 2019, she was appointed to the Steering Committee of the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative, the only lawyer amongst a committee comprising senior executives from the Australian banking, finance and insurance sector.

Sarah was the instructing solicitor on a brief to Mr Noel Hutley SC that is widely cited as the authoritative exposition on directors’ duties with regard to climate change risk in Australia (including by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, Australian Securities & Investments Commission and the Reserve Bank of Australia).

She brings an overtly practical, governance-focused perspective to her advice from her own experience as a director on the board of government- and private-sector boards. In addition to her role as a non-executive director of Emergency Services & State Super, she sits on the board of the Responsible Investment Association Australasia, and has been actively involved as an examiner, lecturer and course materials author for the Australian Institute of Company Directors for more than a decade, and regularly facilitates the Institute’s public sector workshops.

Sarah works extensively across the policy, investment, academic and scientific communities – including with CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology. She is known for her ability to communicate complex legal and economic concepts in a pragmatic way, to both lawyers and non-lawyers.

Sarah provides climate change liability risk management and disclosure advisor to state, federal and local government entities, and a range of Australian corporations in the banking, insurance, asset management, superannuation and infrastructure development sectors. Private and financial services sector clients include Ansell Ltd, Anglo American, ANZ, Australia Post, AMP Capital, Cbus, Cbus Property, ING, Lendlease, NAB, QIC, QTC and South32. In the public sector, Sarah works extensively with Federal, State and local government on climate-related risks and liability exposures (including the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Office, Victorian, Tasmanian, Queensland and South Australian state government departments variously across Premier & Cabinet, environment, water, energy, housing, defence, emergency services, home affairs, public works and infrastructure portfolios, and local government agencies across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.

Robert Bartrop

Robert Bartrop is the Executive Vice President for Business Development at Zero Mass Water, the manufacturer of SOURCE Hydropanels – a technology that provides a reliable, renewable, and personal source of delicious, high-quality drinking water for everyone, everywhere. Since joining Zero Mass Water in early 2017, Robert has overseen the global expansion of SOURCE technology, including a retail product launch in the USA and the establishment of a global distribution network and a project pipeline that is based on a Water Purchase Agreement (WPA) model providing clean drinking water solutions to communities, governments and corporations.

Prior to joining Zero Mass Water, Robert spent almost nine years in strategy, business development and regional management roles at First Solar, where he led the company’s expansion into the Asia Pacific region and was responsible for the origination, development, delivery and operation of a large portfolio of solar PV projects.

Before joining First Solar, Robert worked as an Analyst at Lehman Brothers (New York). Robert has a Bachelor of Commerce – University of Sydney, 2002, and a Juris Doctor (Hons) – Bond University, 2006.

Rosemary Bissett

Rosemary is Head of Sustainability Governance & Risk at National Australia Bank. She has responsibility for the integration of ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Risk into the NAB Group’s risk management framework and for ESG related disclosures, such as those relating to human rights and climate change. This includes NAB’s TCFD disclosures and coordinating NAB’s work on climate risk. Rosemary is a director of North East Water and the Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia. She is also a member of a number of Advisory boards and committees including: the Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute Advisory Board, the National Environmental Science Program Threatened Species Research Hub Steering Committee and United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative Banking Committee and the Natural Capital Coalition’s Advisory Panel and Biodiversity Steering Group. Rosemary has previously worked as a Board Secretary for a Victorian Government Agency and in various roles in the water industry. She has an MBA and Master of Applied Science in Analytical Chemistry.

Nicole Bradford

Nicole Bradford is Portfolio Head, Responsible Investment at Cbus Super, the A$50B industry superannuation fund for the building and construction industry. She has over 20 years’ experience integrating sustainability thinking within investments, companies and government and has worked and lived in both Asia and Europe.

Nicole is co-Chair Mobilising Capital working group for Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative (ASFI), on the Member Council for the Australian Council for Superannuation Investors (ACSI), Chair Net Zero Emissions working group for Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) and a member of the ICGN Board Governance committee. She holds a BSc (REM), Master of Environmental Law, Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and is near completion of a Graduate Diploma in Psychology.

Richard Brandweiner

Richard was appointed as Chief Executive Officer, Australia of Pendal Group in February 2018 and is a member of the Pendal Group Global Executive Committee. Richard has more than 20 years’ experience in investment management and is responsible for the Australian arm of Pendal Group, including asset management, operations, sales and marketing.

Before joining Pendal Group, Richard was Chief Investment Officer at First State Super, one of Australia’s largest pension funds and prior to that was Group Executive at Perpetual Investments, one of Australia’s oldest and most awarded fund managers.

Richard is a CFA charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of New South Wales. Richard previously served as president of the CFA Society and is vice chair of the Australian Advisory Board on Impact Investing.

Kate Bromley

Kate Bromley is Head of Responsible investment at QIC, an investment manager specialising in diversified alternatives and liquid markets. QIC recognises ESG factors can have a material impact on the outcomes of investment portfolios and considers ESG factors in all its investment decision-making processes. Working closely with the QIC Board and executive team, Kate leads and implements QIC’s ESG strategy and works with QIC’s investment teams to apply ESG integration strategies.

Steven Bullock

Steve leads Trucost’s Global ESG Analytics and Client Delivery Team providing essential data and insights to financial institutions, corporate and other clients so that they can allocate capital to more sustainable business models and communicate ESG performance to their stakeholders. He is also part of Trucost’s senior management team.

Steve was Trucost’s lead on the world’s first public environmental profit and loss “EP&L” account for PUMA and led the technical development of the Water Risk Monetizer (in collaboration with Ecolab and Microsoft). More recently, Steve contributed to the technical development of the S&P Global Ratings Green Evaluation tool and the S&P 500 Carbon Price Risk 2030 Adjusted Index. Steve sits on the Advisory Panel of the Natural Capital Coalition having previously led the development of the Natural Capital Protocol’s food and beverage and apparel sector guides.

Prior to joining Trucost, Steve worked as an analyst for a performance management consultancy. He holds a BA 1:1 with honours in Geography and a MSc with Distinction in Sustainable Development from the University of Exeter.

Brian Cahill

Brian Cahill is a Managing Director and Global Executive Sponsor for Moody’s Environmental, Social and Governance initiatives. In this role, Brian leads Moody’s activities in the area of ESG analytics, thematic research and market outreach, with the aim of enhancing the transparency around how ESG considerations are incorporated into credit analysis.

Brian Cahill is also Managing Director of the Corporate Finance Group for Asia. In this role, he has overall responsibility for Moody’s ratings and research for this group in the region, managing teams in Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo.

Brian has held various senior analytical and management positions with Moody’s. He joined the company in 1996, working first in Structured Finance and then Corporate Finance.

He was appointed MD of the Corporate Finance Group for Asia Pacific in 2002, was MD and country manager for Australia from 2005 to 2009 and Managing Director with overall responsibility for Moody’s Financial Institutions Group for Asia Pacific from 2009 to May 2016. Prior to joining Moody’s, Brian practiced as a lawyer in London, New York and Sydney. He received an MA and Master of Law from St. John’s College, Cambridge University.

Professor the Hon Bob Carr

Former Foreign Minister Bob Carr is also the longest continuously serving Premier in New South Wales history.

He served as Minister for Planning and Environment 1984 to 1988 and as Leader of the Opposition from 1988 until his election as Premier in March 1995. He was re-elected in 1999 and 2003 securing an historic third four-year term. He retired from state politics in 2005.

During his 10 years the State Government set new records for spending on infrastructure, became the first government in the State’s history to retire debt, hosted the world’s best Olympics in 2000 and achieved the nation’s best school literacy levels. Forbes magazine called Bob Carr a “dragon slayer” for his landmark tort law reforms.

As Premier he received the World Conservation Union International Parks Merit Award for creating 350 new national parks. He introduced the world’s first carbon trading scheme and curbed the clearing of native vegetation, both anti-greenhouse measures. He was a member of the International Task Force on Climate Change convened by Tony Blair, and was made a life member of the Wilderness Society in 2003.

Bob Carr has received the Fulbright Distinguished Fellow Award Scholarship. He has served as Honorary Scholar of the Australian American Leadership Dialogue. He is the author of Thoughtlines (2002), What Australia Means to Me (2003), My Reading Life (2008) Diary of a Foreign Minister (2014) and Run for Your Life (2018).

In March 2012 he was designated by Prime Minister Julia Gillard as Australia’s Foreign Minister, elected to the Australian Senate to fill a casual Senate vacancy and sworn in to the Senate and Cabinet on March 13, 2012.

As Foreign Minister, Bob Carr fostered stronger relations between Australia and Southeast Asia, lifted sanctions on Myanmar, campaigned for the passage of a global Arms Trade Treaty and led the final stages of Australia’s successful bid for Australia’s seat on the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member. His plan for a Syrian medical pact was backed at the G20. He assisted Prime Minister Gillard in achieving a strategic partnership with China.

Following his resignation from the Senate on October 24, 2013, the University of Technology, Sydney appointed him to lead the Australia-China Relations Institute – a think tank dedicated to Australia-China relations, serving for five years. In May 2019 he was appointed Professor of Industry in Climate and Business at the University of Technology Sydney.

Bob Carr is a Director of The Lysicrates Foundation and a Committee Member of the UNSW Matraville Education Program Advisory Council.

their impacts on investments. This new venture is in line with Sylvain’s sense of entrepreneurship. Indeed, Sylvain was the CEO and main shareholder of Enerdata, a research and consulting firm specialised in the energy and carbon sectors, until 2014.

Sylvain graduated from ESSEC, and has built on a great experience of
consulting projects related to energy and carbon, for international clients. He has been involved in a large number of key issues around energy supply, demand and prices dynamics, in particular: market potential assessment, market analysis, segmentation and benchmarking, modelling & forecasting studies, multi-annual planning schemes, electricity, gas and oil products pricing, carbon credits generation, projects portfolio identification, assistance to investment funds, feasibility studies, new

Sylvain has a deep knowledge of the industry of Business Intelligence and its key success factors. When he was the CEO of Enerdata, the firm experienced a strong growth, driven by products innovation, a strong web marketing strategy, and the internationalisation of the clients’ base.

Sophia Cheng

Sophia Cheng is the Chief Investment Officer of Cathay Financial Holdings and also teaches in the Department of Intl Business of National Taiwan University. Sophia has more than 20 years of experience in research and investment with last position acting as Chairman and head of research of Merrill Lynch Taiwan. Prior to joining Cathay, Sophia acted as the independent director of SinoPac Financial Holdings and later SEVP of JihSun Financial Holdings where she led the company strategy plan and supervised the group’s investment.

Sophia is highly regarded by the government. She is well known for her work in financial sector research and her proactive participation in forming government policies, including promoting banking reform and tax reform. Sophia has been appointed as Government Affairs Consultant of Executive Yuan and Advisory Committee Member of National Development Council since 2012 and 2015, respectively. Sophia also acts as the Chair of Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC), Fellow of Asia Pacific Industrial Analysis Association (APIAA) and Board of Director of the Taiwan M&A and Private Equity Council (MAPECT).

Sophia holds Master of Science degree in finance-banking from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, California, USA and a bachelor degree in Atmospheric Sciences from National Taiwan University.

Peter Colacino

Peter Colacino leads Infrastructure Australia’s Policy and Research team and is tasked with identifying the greatest challenges and opportunities facing the delivery of infrastructure for Australia’s growing cities and regions. The team has recently delivered Australia’s second national Infrastructure Audit as well as deep dive policy examining future mobility, sequencing infrastructure delivery and population growth.

Peter brings his experience working both in positions across the public and private sectors on some of Australia’s largest infrastructure projects, including Northconnex, Transport for Newcastle and Gold Coast Light Rail. He has also been a champion for generational change in transport services, including the adoption of connected and autonomous vehicle technology, electric vehicle adoption and new models of transport service provision.

Corrin Collocott

Corrin Collocott, BSc (Hons), FIAA – Chief Investment Officer

Corrin joined BT Investment Solutions in November 2015 and was appointed Chief Investment Officer in September 2017. Corrin is responsible for the leadership of the BT Investment Solutions (BTIS) Investment Team and the investment management of all BTIS investment products and strategies spanning across Investment, Super, SMA, Model Portfolios and bespoke strategies.

Prior to being appointed in his current role, Corrin was BTIS’ Head of Asset Allocation and was responsible for delivering on the investment objectives for all the BTIS diversified portfolios. His main focus was on the formulation and implementation of strategic asset allocations, along with overseeing the meeting of regulatory requirements, reporting and the preparation of the relevant Board papers containing investment recommendations.

In previous roles, Corrin was Manager – Investment Strategies at Sunsuper where he was responsible for the management of the strategy team and portfolio management of the multi-asset portfolios. He also held a number of roles across a variety of industries including Russell Investment Group, lnTech, MCA NZ Limited, and Watson Wyatt Worldwide.

Corrin has 22 years’ industry experience, graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.

Dr Rebecca Colvin, PhD

Bec Colvin is a social scientist with the Resources, Environment & Development Group at the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy. Bec’s research interest is in how groups of people interact with each other – especially in settings of social and political conflict – with regard to climate and environmental issues. Much of this work has a focus on the dynamics of formalised processes for including citizens and stakeholders in decision-making, and leverages on perspectives from social psychology, especially social identity, to understand the complexities of people and process. Recent research projects have included the study of conflict about wind energy development, the psychological underpinnings of a constructive governance regime for negative emissions, the role of trust between climate researchers and policy-makers, and the relationship between aggregate public opinion and conflict in environmental messaging. Before joining the ANU in 2017, Bec undertook a PhD and lectured with The University of Queensland.

Mark Crosweller AFSM

Mark Crosweller is currently the Head of the National Resilience Taskforce for the Department of Home Affairs within the Australian Government. In this role, Mark is responsible for liaising extensively at the national level across governments, NGOs and the private sector to lead nation-wide reform to reduce the impact of disasters on Australian communities and the economy through disaster mitigation and resilience policy.

Mark’s extensive career spans across the private sector as well as local, state, territory and federal governments. During this time Mark has led large and diverse workforces at division, group and agency level in all aspects of strategy, operations and corporate governance.

In his previous role over a five year period as Director General of Emergency Management Australia, Mark was responsible for the coordination of Australia’s response to crises, including natural disasters and to terrorist and security-related incidents both domestically and internationally. Mark also led and directed National Emergency Management Strategy and Policy and the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements as well as coordinating the delivery of protective security to Australia’s Holders of High Office, events of special significance and to the diplomatic community within Australia. He was also responsible for briefing Australia’s Prime Minister and the Cabinet of the Australian Government in relation to all aspects of disaster management.

Louise Davidson AM

Louise is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI). ACSI is a collaboration of Australian and international superannuation funds that collectively manage more than $2.2 trillion in assets. ACSI’s objective is to improve the environmental, social and governance performance of the companies in which our members invest.

Appointed CEO in April 2015, Louise has more than 20 years senior expertise in the financial services and superannuation industry. She joined ACSI from Cbus, where, as Investment Manager, ESG, she was responsible for the integration of ESG issues within Cbus’ investment processes.

In 2015 Louise was named Victoria’s Local Hero in the Australian of the Year Awards for her work as the co-founder and National Chair of the Mother’s Day Classic Walk/Run for Breast Cancer Research. Established in 1998, this ongoing national event has raised over $35m for breast cancer research. In 2019, Louise was made a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of her “significant service to the superannuation and funds management sectors, and to breast cancer research”.

Louise is a Director of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and a Director of the Board of the International Integrated Reporting initiative.

Elisa de Wit

Elisa de Wit is a partner in the Melbourne office of international legal practice, Norton Rose Fulbright and heads the firm’s Climate Change and Sustainability practice. She has over 28 years of legal experience and has practised in three Australian jurisdictions and the UK. Elisa is considered one of Australia’s preeminent climate change lawyers and advises clients on policy, regulation and compliance issues. She also advises on climate risk, directors duties and climate related disclosure. Elisa is a Director of the Carbon Market Institute, Beyond Zero Emissions and the Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water Corporation.

Stephen Dunne

Stephen is a Director of Cbus and Chairman of the Investment Committee, he is also a director of QIC, NAPCo and Director of Evergen Pty Ltd. Stephen worked at AMP Capital from 1994 to 2016 where he held a number of roles. In 2004, he was appointed CEO of AMP Capital, a role he held until retiring from the company in 2016. Stephen will also commence his term as Chair of the CFA Societies Australia Advocacy Council in January 2018.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, holding a Master of Business Administration from Monash University and a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia) and a Fellow of the Institute of company directors.

Rob Fisher

Rob is Windlab’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer, with responsibility for the company’s corporate and project finance, technical, and asset management functions. He also sits on the boards of directors of Windlab’s operating renewable generators. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with EY, Rob spent the past 17 years working with fast growing companies in Australia and internationally. His experience includes project and corporate finance for construction and renewable energy, software and technical services.

Rob has degrees in Economics, Commerce, and Tax Law, and is a Graduate Member of the Institute of Company Directors. He is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Damien Frawley

As QIC’s Chief Executive, Damien leads the Executive Committee to achieve QIC’s strategic and business objectives.

Damien has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector. He has a strong focus on developing and executing strategy, particularly around growth and sales. Prior to his current role, Damien was the country head of BlackRock Australia, responsible for managing $45 billion of assets on behalf of clients. Damien also held the position as BlackRock’s Head of Account Management, overseeing sales, marketing and product efforts across institutional and retail channels. Damien’s career has also included roles at Merrill Lynch Investment Management, Barclays Global Investors and Citibank.

Damien is a Queenslander and prior to his career in financial services he represented Australia in rugby union.

Frank Freitas

Frank Freitas is the Chief Development Officer of Four Twenty Seven, Inc. a climate risk market intelligence firm based in Berkeley, California. Frank draws on his nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry to guide the product development agenda for Four Twenty Seven’s diverse client base.

Frank is a seasoned veteran of product management and strategic planning.  He founded and then sold Pluribus Labs, a research and analytics firm devoted to the translation of unstructured data into investable signals. Frank also served as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Product Strategy at Instinet, a global, technology-levered agency broker focused on developing superior trading solutions for its global client base.  Prior to that, Frank developed award-winning portfolio management solutions while a part of the product management organization at MSCI (then Barra).

Frank also serves as a strategic advisor to Full Cycle Bioplastics, a Bay Area-based materials technology firm that transforms compost into bio-benign, ocean-degradable plastic alternatives. Frank is an ocean enthusiast, and spends his spare time cleaning beaches, building wooden surfboards and catching waves with his family and friends.

Andrew Gray

Director, ESG & Stewardship

Andrew Gray is Director, ESG & Stewardship at AustralianSuper. He joined the Fund in July 2011 as Senior Manager, Investments Governance.

He is responsible for implementing an ESG integration strategy for AustralianSuper’s investment portfolio.

Prior to joining AustralianSuper, Andrew was Executive Director, Head of Environmental, Social & Governance Research at Goldman Sachs.  He joined JB Were (which later became Goldman Sachs) in 1991 and over his 20 years with the firm performed roles including Head of Quantitative Research.

Andrew’s work evolved to include consideration of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) factors in investing with an emphasis on the role they play as part of the mainstream investment process.  Andrew published various research pieces and worked closely with the investment community to contribute to the evolution of the consideration of ESG issues in investing.

James Hall

James Hall is General Manager, Corporate Finance, at AGL Energy Limited, having joined the company in July 2016. In this role, James is responsible for leading AGL’s group financial planning and analysis, treasury, investor relations and sustainability teams. James recently returned to the Finance function having been seconded as Interim Executive General Manager, Strategy, for the 12 months to September 2019. Before joining AGL, James was Vice President, Investor Relations & Corporate Affairs at logistics company Brambles Limited, at which he led investor relations and corporate affairs globally. Prior to this, James held a similar role at engineering and property services company United Group Limited and held various roles at The Australian Financial Review. James originally qualified in journalism and is currently completing a Master of Applied Finance degree. James is a past Chairman of the Australasian Investor Relations Association.

Michael Hanna

Michael is responsible for managing the IFM Australian Infrastructure Fund and is also a member of the Infrastructure Investment Sub-Committee. Prior to joining IFM Investors in 2006, Michael held senior executive positions at the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance (public-private infrastructure group) and global consulting engineers, Arup, in the UK and in Australia. Michael represents IFM Investors as a Director on the board of Ausgrid, and previously represented IFM Investors as a director on the boards of NSW Ports (Port Botany and Port Kembla), Pacific Hydro (renewable energy business in Australia and South America), Eastern Distributor (M1 toll road in NSW), Interlink Roads (M5 toll road in NSW), Ecogen Energy (power generation business in Victoria) and Wyuna Water (public-private partnership in NSW).

Emma Herd has been Chief Executive Officer at the Investor Group on Climate Change since August 2015. Emma has worked in climate change, sustainability, public policy and finance for almost twenty years.

Prior to IGCC, Emma spent 15 years at Westpac Banking Corporation where she worked at the vanguard of climate change and finance. She held a range of roles across carbon finance and emissions trading, ESG Risk assessment, public policy and advocacy, sustainability strategy development and corporate affairs across Westpac Institutional Bank and Westpac Banking Corporation. She started her career working in Parliamentary Committees (Senate and House of Representatives) in Parliament House, Canberra.

Emma is a Non-Executive Director of the Carbon Market Institute and a member of the Queensland Climate Change Advisory Council. She holds a Bachelor of Asian Studies (Thai) Hons.

Bernie Hobbs

Science writer and broadcaster with ABC Science

Bernie Hobbs is best known as a popular judge from ABC TV’s The New Inventors, and she’s a firm favourite with audiences for her weekly science spots on ABC radio around the country.

Bernie has won awards for the kids tv show the experiMENTALS, and for her infamous greenhouse website Planet Slayer – where you find out what age you should have died at so you don’t use more than your share of the planet.

She has a first class honours degree in biochemistry and microbiology, a very nerdy habit of birdwatching, and more than a passing interest in cycling, kayaking and ridding her backyard of asthma weed.

Amy Hogan is responsible for leading Stockland’s sustainability function, which includes environmental and community development specialists who cover Stockland’s $15 billion diversified real estate portfolio.
Amy leads Stockland’s sustainability strategy with the main objective of delivering tangible and long-term value to Stockland stakeholders. In addition to ensuring sustainable practices and policies are integrated across all parts of the business, Amy key interest is driving innovative partnerships that deliver shared value outcomes.

Amy has over 15 years in real estate, with organisations including Jones Lang Lasalle and Colonial First State Global Asset Management and extensive sustainability expertise spaning a number of sectors including government and consulting. In 2018 Amy was the recipient of the 2018 NAWIC Contribution to Sustainability.

Amy is the Deputy Chair of the Property Council of Australia’s Social Sustainability Committee, a member of the National Sustainability Roundtable and supports industry development in several other working groups. She holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science from Griffith University.

Erwin Jackson

Erwin Jackson’s 30 years of experience in climate change policy has earned him a reputation as one of Australia’s leading climate policy analysts and advocates. Erwin is regular commentator in the national media and has advised government and business on effective climate policy in national, regional and international fora. He has sat on research advisory committees and undertaken strategy development in low-emissions technology for the University of Melbourne, ANU, CSIRO and the University of Queensland. He was Deputy CEO of The Climate Institute for nearly 10 years, where he was seconded to the Climate Change Authority as an expert in international climate change diplomacy. Other roles include being a senior policy advisor to the Australian Conservation Foundation and Environment Victoria. Erwin is a director of Climate Analytics Australia.

Seiji Kawazoe

Seigi Kawazoe is a senior stewardship Officer at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management with strong global experience based in Tokyo, NYC, London, Luxemburg as a global equities portfolio manager. The Hon. Matt Kean MP

Matt Kean is the NSW Minister for Energy and Environment, a portfolio that was first combined after the Berejiklian Government’s re-election in March 2019. Minister Kean was elected as the member for Hornsby in 2011 at the age of 29.

Prior to entering politics, the Minister, a chartered accountant, worked as a senior manager for Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Shortly after entering politics, he was elected to chair the NSW Parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on the Office of the Valuer General where he led a major review of the valuation system used for land tax, council rates and compulsory acquisitions.

In January 2017, Mr Kean was elevated to cabinet as the Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, giving him the opportunity to continue to be a champion for the little guy.

Mr Kean sees mental health as a major concern, and is proud of the Mentally Healthy Workplaces Strategy he implemented in 2018. His first speech in Parliament back in 2011 was dedicated to a young friend who had recently taken his own life.

In his role as Energy and Environment Minister, the Minister wants to ensure the community has access to energy that is affordable and reliable. He’s also determined to tackle climate change and eager to leave the planet in a better state than the one we inherited.

Georg Kell

Georg Kell is Chairman of Arabesque, an ESG Quant fund manager that uses self-learning quantitative models and big data to assess the performance and sustainability of globally listed companies.

He is the founding Director of the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative with over 9,000 corporate signatories from more than 160 countries. Through Georg’s leadership, the Global Compact became the foremost platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible and sustainable corporate policies and practices.

Georg also oversaw the conception and launch of the Global Compact’s sister initiatives, the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), and the Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) initiative.

Georg started his career as a research fellow in engineering at the Fraunhofer Institute in Berlin. He then worked as a financial analyst in various countries in Africa & Asia before joining the United Nations in 1987. Georg holds advanced degrees in economics and engineering from the Technical University of Berlin.

Dr Rosemary Kelly

Rosemary chairs First State Super’s Investment Committee and has been a Director of the Fund since 2012.

FSS has more than $100 billion in funds under management and more than 700,000 members. The majority of FSS members work in health, education, public administration and emergency services in NSW and Victoria.

As a universal owner, FSS is mindful of the footprint its investments make in markets, in communities and on the environment. First State Super has a strong sense of social responsibility and believes that poor management of ESG related risks by a company not only impact returns but can potentially harm the broader community and the environment. FSS is a signatory to the Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI), the Australian Asset Owners Stewardship Code and is a member of the IGCC. FSS is a supporter of the TCFD (Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures).

Rosemary was nominated to the Board of FSS by the Health Services Union. She is an official the Union’s No 4 Branch in Victoria, which represents medical scientists, dietitians, psychologists and pharmacists. She is the Secretary of the Victorian Psychologists Association Inc, which is a component association of the Branch.

Simon Kidston

Simon Kidston has an investment banking background with more than 25 years global experience with groups such as Macquarie Bank, HSBC and Helmsec Global Capital.  Simon is a co-founder and Executive Director of Genex Power, and has responsibility for project finance and business development.  Simon was involved in the funding arrangements for Stage 1 of the Kidston Renewable Energy Hub (50MW Kidston Solar Project), and is now engaged with banks and potential equity partners for Stage 2 (Integrated 250 MW Pumped Storage Hydro and 270MW Solar Project).

Tom King

He has also structured the acquisition of assets globally for those funds. Rory is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Courtney Lowrance

Courtney Lowrance is a Principal Environment Specialist at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a new multilateral financial institution founded to bring countries together to address the daunting infrastructure needs across Asia. She oversees AIIB’s ESG strategy, including the development of an ESG Framework for the Bank’s first fixed income fund and the launch of a new ESG Markets Initiative to develop sustainable capital markets in Emerging Asia.

Previously, Courtney was the global head of Citi’s Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) group. In this capacity, she supported Citi’s Debt Capital Markets team in Green Bond mandates and helped bring to market the first sovereign green bond in Asia (issued by Indonesia), as well as the first green bonds in Brazil (BRF) and Mexico (NAFIN). She has over 15 years of experience in the field of sustainable finance and has engaged with central banks and finance ministries on the development of green credit policy and green bond markets in Indonesia, Thailand, Nigeria, Peru, and Colombia.

Tony Maher


National President of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union, also General President of the union’s Mining and Energy Division. The latter position is directly elected by the membership and has been held by Tony since August 1998.

He has led union work on climate change since 2006, including via the ACTU’s Climate Action Group since 2008. He has held appointments to the Australian Government’s Carbon Capture and Storage Taskforce and the Prime Minister’s Energy Efficiency Advisory Group, and has represented Australian unions at several meetings of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Dr Michael E. Mann

Dr Mann is Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science and Director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on climate science and climate change. He was selected by Scientific American as one of the fifty leading visionaries in science and technology in 2002, was awarded the Hans Oeschger Medal of the European Geophysical Union in 2012 and the National Conservation Achievement Award of the NWF in 2013. He made Bloomberg News‘ list of fifty most influential people in 2013.  In 2014, he received the Friend of the Planet Award from the National Center for Science Education. He received the Stephen H. Schneider Award for Outstanding Climate Science Communication from Climate One in 2017, the Award for Public Engagement with Science from the AAAS in 2018 and the Climate Communication Prize from the American Geophysical Union in 2018. In 2019 he received the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement. He is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, American Meteorological Society, Geological Society of America, American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry. He is co-founder of the award-winning science website, author of more than 200 peer-reviewed and edited publications, numerous op-eds and commentaries, and four books including Dire Predictions, The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars, The Madhouse Effect and The Tantrum that Saved the World.

Samuel Mary

Mr. Mary is a vice president and ESG research analyst in the London office, focused on the integration of ESG (environmental, social and governance) factors into PIMCO’s portfolio management and credit research. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2018, he worked as a senior ESG and sustainability research analyst at Kepler Cheuvreux, where he was responsible for the group’s thematic and impact investing research product, ESG corporate access and in-house ESG integration framework, based on methodologies that integrate ESG issues within fundamental equity analysis for specific sectors. He has seven years of investment experience and holds a master’s degree in management with a specialization in finance from ESCP Europe. He was Extel’s top-ranked individual for SRI Research in 2017, based on surveys of UK asset managers.

Liza McDonald

Sarah McNamara

Sarah McNamara was appointed as Chief Executive of the Australian Energy Council in July 2018.

Sarah joined the Energy Council as General Manager of Corporate Affairs in January 2016. She is an industry leader with more than a decade of experience working with policy and regulatory frameworks across the resources and energy sectors.

Prior to the Energy Council, Sarah was Chief of Staff to the then Minister for Industry, the Hon Ian Macfarlane, and has also worked as a senior policy adviser to the Prime Minister.

Between 2008 and 2013 Sarah worked in AGL’s Corporate Affairs team as Head of Government Affairs and Community Engagement. Sarah began her career as a corporate lawyer, and has a Bachelor of Arts/Law from the University of Melbourne.

Rebecca Mikula-Wright

Rebecca has been working as a consultant with the Investor Group on Climate Change since 2012 as Project Director.

Rebecca supported the reestablishment of the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change in 2016, and has continued to manage the AIGCC secretariat and the group’s ongoing stream of work. She has led various projects for IGCC such as the IGCC 2015 Summit, Trustee Training on Climate Change, Low Carbon Investment Registry and sector reports on risks and opportunities of climate change.

Rebecca was previously the General Manager of ASrIA (Asia RI Association) after working at Nomura in Equity Research and BlackRock in Hong Kong. She was a senior credit analyst with Exxon Mobil in Prague and started her career in derivatives with JP Morgan. Rebecca has served several years on the voluntary board of The Orangutan Project, that works on direct orangutan and habitat conservation in Indonesia. Rebecca holds a BA (Asian Studies, Japanese) and is part way through an MBA.

Arti Prasad

Arti Prasad is Senior Investment Strategist for the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation and works on the development and implementation of the Guardians’ responsible investment (RI) and corporate governance policies. Arti’s role includes integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into investments, portfolio monitoring of ESG breaches. She also leads on aspects of the Guardian’s climate strategy in particular carbon footprinting and integration of climate change risks and opportunities within the Fund’s direct private market assets. Arti had been with the Guardians for five years, went overseas for 2 and half years and returned again in 2017.

In the time away from the Guardians, Arti did a stint at the Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC), Brisbane Australia as the Head of Responsible Investment where she set up and ran their RI Programme. Prior to joining the Guardians, Arti was Senior Policy Analyst at the Ministry for Environment, working on policy decisions related to business sustainability, water and climate change.

Arti has a Bachelors of Commerce Degree (Grad dip) from the University of Auckland, and Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and Finance from Massey University, New Zealand.

Emma Pringle

Emma Pringle is BT’s Head of Customer Governance and Sustainability, a role she has held since August 2016. In this role Emma leads the strategy and implementation of the company’s sustainability program and is responsible for ensuring the company’s products and services are doing the right thing by its customers. During her 13 year tenure at BT, Emma has worked across sustainability, strategy, sales and customer roles.

Emma is co-Chair of the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative (ASFI) working group on Meeting Community and Consumer Expectations and has over 20 years’ experience working in financial services and technology companies.

Bruno Rauis

Bruno Rauis heads Carbon Delta’s London office, working with clients on climate risk analysis as well as on new product development. Bruno has over twelve years of experience in mainstream finance, gained through various structuring and trading roles in investment banks in Europe and Asia-Pacific. In his last role as a Director in Citi’s Asia-Pacific Credit Trading team, he specialised in structuring and risk managing bespoke investment, financing and risk hedging transactions for the bank’s institutional and corporate clients. Prior to joining Carbon Delta, Bruno worked in the fields of climate risk and sustainable infrastructure finance in academic institutions, co-authoring some of the first reports of the Transition Pathway Initiative at the London School of Economics and taking on a role of Research Associate at Imperial College’s Centre for Climate Finance and Investment.

Bruno holds a Master of Management Engineering with Major in Finance from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (High Distinction) and an MSc in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from the London School of Economics (Distinction). He is a published author of books and peer-reviewed articles on credit derivatives, banking regulation and climate finance.

Michael Salvatico

Michael Salvatico, Executive Director at MSCI Inc., based in Sydney Australia, is the Head of MSCI ESG Research in Australia and New Zealand. MSCI is a global leader providing ESG research, indexes, analytics and real estate benchmarks. Michael works with investors, companies and industry bodies to consult on industry trends, identify ESG requirements, and advise on the integration of ESG research and tools that help inform investment decisions and strategies.

Prior to joining HESTA, Sonya was an Investment Director at QIC, overseeing multi-asset class portfolios in excess of $45 billion.

Katharine Tapley is Head of Sustainable Finance at ANZ and is leading the team spearheading the bank’s strategy to support its customers to transition to a zero carbon and more sustainable economy. In addition to setting up ANZ’s own green and sustainability bond programs and overseeing ANZ’s 2020 $15b sustainable finance target, her team has executed ~AUD 20b of financing over the last 4 years across green, social and sustainability bonds and loans for clients in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Katharine has been instrumental in developing these markets in Australia and New Zealand.

She is a professional company director with a background in international banking and finance. In addition to New Zealand Green Investment Finance, she is a Director of Seeka and Payments NZ, a Member of The University of Auckland Council and a Trustee of The University of Auckland Foundation. Cecilia is also active in early stage angel investing. She is the Chair of ArcAngels, an angel investment network that focuses on investing in, and supporting, women-led companies, and a member of ICE Angels.

Michael Traill AM

Michael was founding Chief Executive of Social Ventures Australia from 2002 – 14, after 15 years as a co-founder and Executive Director of Macquarie Group’s private equity arm, Macquarie Direct Investment. Fran van Reyk

Fran leads a small group of investor relations and finance professionals who are responsible for day to day contact with the investor community. She joined Qantas in 2016 in her current role.

Prior to joining Qantas, Fran has held leadership roles in investor relations and Group marketing and communications functions for WorleyParsons and Caltex Australia. While at Caltex, Fran was also responsible for Caltex’s response to Climate Change.

Fran has also held a number of senior positions in the Oil & Gas and Engineering contractor industries including time spent on offshore oil platforms, explosive factories and oil refineries. She is a qualified Engineer and holds a B Eng (Civil), M Eng Sci from the University of Melbourne, is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a Director of the Board of the Australasian Investor Relations Association.

Rick is the Director, Infrastructure at GRESB and is an experienced sustainability professional with a diverse background covering more than 25 years’ experience in Sustainability, Investment, Engineering and Management. GRESB’s mission is to enhance and protect shareholder value by assessing and empowering sustainability practices in the real asset sector. Previous to joining GRESB, Rick was a founder of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia and there led the development of its sustainability rating scheme, the first of its kind in Australia.

Zoe Whitton

Head of ESG Research

Zoe Whitton leads the Asian ESG Research team at Citi. She previously covered ESG and thematics at Credit Suisse and at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She has also worked as an analyst at the Oxford Smith School and the Stockholm Environmental Institute, served as a youth delegate to the UNFCCC, and worked in management consulting in the energy and industrials sectors. She sits on the Management Committee of the Investor Group on Climate Change, presently acts as a mentor at EnergyLab, and is a member of the founding committee of Women in Sustainable Finance. She holds Masters degrees in environmental policy and economics from Oxford University and the University of Queensland.

Martijn Wilder AM

Martijn is a Founding Partner of Pollination. He is regarded as a world leader in climate law, finance and investments and was head of Baker & McKenzie’s global climate law and finance practice for almost 20 years. He is Chair of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and a former founding Director of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and former Chair the Federal Government’s Low Carbon Australia. He is currently President, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Australia; Chair, NSW Climate Change Council; Chair, Law for Development Initiative; Adjunct Professor of International Climate Change Law, Australian National University; Director, Climate Council; Member, Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists. Martijn was a recipient of the Member of the Order of Australia for contribution to climate change law and the environment and winner of the 2018 Financial Times Asia Pacific Legal Innovator of the Year. Martijn has an Economic Honours degree from the University of Sydney, a Law degree with Honours from the Australian National University and was a Cambridge Commonwealth Trust Scholar where he obtained a Master of Laws.

Innes Willox is Chief Executive of the Australian Industry Group, a leading industry organisation representing businesses in a broad range of sectors including manufacturing, construction, transport, defence, ICT and labour hire.  Innes was appointed Chief Executive in May 2012.

His current appointments include:

Innes served as the Australian Consul General to Los Angeles from 2006 to 2008, where he represented wide-ranging Australian interests on the west coast of the United States, including in the areas of trade, finance, culture, bio-technology, environment and energy sectors.

He was Chief of Staff to the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Downer, from 2004 to 2006.

Earlier, Innes held a number of private sector and government positions including Manager of Global Public Affairs for Singapore Airlines based in Singapore (2000-04).

Innes began his working career as a journalist.  His positions included Chief of Staff at The Age newspaper in Melbourne and Chief Political Correspondent for The Age in the Canberra Parliamentary Press Gallery.

Innes was educated at Melbourne High School; Monash University (BA History and Politics); and Edinburgh Business School.   He is on the Board of Windermere – Victoria’s oldest family and child services agency.  He is based in Melbourne and is a lifetime supporter of the Collingwood Football Club.

Dr Katherine Woodthorpe AO

Dr Katherine Woodthorpe AO is an experienced Chair and Non-Executive Director serving for 19 years on the boards of a variety of organisations including listed entities, government boards and for-purpose organisations. She has a strong track record in a broad range of innovation-dependent industries including healthcare, renewable energy and environmental and climate science.  She has been cited in various media as one of Australia’s most influential people in innovation. Amongst her current roles she is Chair of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, Chair of the Antarctic Science Foundation and Chair of the National Climate Science Advisory Committee.

Katherine has deep knowledge of the private equity and venture capital industries in the financial sector.  For seven years she was the Chief Executive of AVCAL, the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.
