Catalysing Action on Climate Change.
The recent report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on the effects of global warming of 1.5 °C has brought a new urgency to tackling climate change and meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Climate change is now widely recognised as a significant financial risk for business and investors, and financial regulators are calling for financial players to act. Climate change policy and politics are moving into a new phase. In Australia, the 2019 Federal Election will re-shape the policy landscape, while New Zealand continues to push ahead with an ambitious policy agenda.
Market practice has accelerated. Getting the transition right will create significant new investment opportunities. Increasing resilience to the physical effects of climate change is increasingly important for protecting long term returns. Active engagement is key.
Against this backdrop of heightened urgency, a changed policy landscape and more investor action on climate, IGCC will again bring together leading experts and market practitioners to unpack and discuss the latest and next generation of investor practice on climate change.
