About us

We are the leading network for Australian and New Zealand investors to understand and respond to the risks and opportunities of climate change.

Our members manage more than $35 trillion globally.

Our members have more than $35 trillion in global AUM, and $5 trillion in local AUM.

They include our countries’ largest superannuation and retail funds, specialist investors and advisory groups, and their beneficiaries include more than 14.8 million Australians, and millions more New Zealanders.

We are a not-for-profit organisation.

Our work is funded by members’ fees, philanthropy, partnerships, and sponsorship from supporters who understand the power of capital to support climate action.

We are the parent of The Asia Investor Group on Climate Change.

We launched AIGCC, which operates across Asia under our governance structure and is therefore within IGCC’s legal entity and constitution.

AIGCC has its own members, board sub-committee, and activities, but we share a CEO and some executives, and leverage each others work and expertise.

We are the regional connection to global investor networks

We co-ordinate with peer networks via the Paris Aligned Investor Initiative, which comprises IGCC in Australia/New Zealand, AIGCC in Asia, the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change in Europe, and Ceres in North America.

We also run certain collaborative initiatives with global investor networks CDP, PRI and the UN Environment Program Finance Initiative as Investor Agenda.

We will deliver real and accelerated progress on climate change by connecting, collaborating, and advocating on behalf of investors to responsibly manage climate risks and opportunities, and drive sustainable returns for investors and the beneficiaries they represent.

Our International Initiatives

We are the co-founder of a set of international initiatives to progress various elements of our mission.

Climate Action 100+

Climate Action 100+ is an investor-led initiative to ensure the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emitters take necessary action on climate change. It is at the heart of our corporate engagement program.

Net Zero Asset Managers initiative

The Net Zero Asset Managers initiative (NZAM) aims to galvanise the asset management industry to commit to a goal of net zero emissions. As of December 2022 it has 301 signatories with USD 59 trillion in assets under management.

Paris-Aligned Asset Owners initiative

Under the initiative, asset owners commit to transitioning their investments to achieve net zero portfolio GHG emissions by 2050 or sooner, drawing on the Net Zero Investment Framework.

Investor Agenda

The initiative publishes the Investor Climate Action Plan (ICAP) framework and resources and co-ordinates global policy advocacy.
