Evolving expectations for corporate just transition planning
Investors understand that the best economic outcomes will be achieved via a fast, orderly and fair transition.
Companies are pivotal to achieving this and, as owners of equity investors can play a key role in ensuring companies support a just and equitable transition.
From an initial focus solely on worker rights, expectations of corporate just transition planning have evolved to encompass a wide range of stakeholders, including communities, workers, suppliers, customers, policymakers and First Nations people. As an investor, translating the associated abundance of principles and frameworks into company expectations can be a challenge.
This session will provide a consolidated overview of the latest best practice guidance, will highlight elements particularly relevant to the ANZ context and will provide an opportunity for attendees put these insights into practice.
This Masterclass is an opportunity to:
- Learn about current corporate Just Transition planning expectations from a range of corporate, investor and other perspectives,
- Get a ‘behind the scenes’ insight into how companies develop their Just Transition plans
- Evaluate how companies in key Australian sectors are planning for a just transition.
The session will draw on the assessment framework in IGCC’s ‘Investor Expectations for Corporate Just Transition Planning’, developed in consultation with IGCC members and key stakeholders. This guide is designed to support stewardship teams in understanding, assessing, and engaging with the Just Transition plans of their investee companies.
