Australia’s COP31 Presidency of Negotiations places it at the center of the global climate process, creating a unique opportunity to lift global ambition and strengthen partnerships across the Asia–Pacific.
As President of Negotiations, Australia will help steer the process at COP31 in Türkiye — shaping outcomes that influence climate ambition, international cooperation, and long-term economic pathways. The Pacific will be a key partner. With a pre-COP gathering planned in the region, Australia will be working alongside Pacific nations to ensure the priorities of some of the world’s most climate-impacted countries are reflected in the broader negotiations — including adaptation, resilience, and access to finance.
Together with experts from Australia and the Pacific, we will explore:
- Australia’s COP31 influence: How the Presidency of Negotiations can shape global and regional climate outcomes, and why this matters for Asia–Pacific resilience, investment, and policy.
- Pacific priorities and partnership: Pacific perspectives on climate impacts, adaptation needs, and how Australia and the Pacific are collaborating to guide the negotiations.
- Impacts for business and policy: What COP31 could mean for economic stability, climate risk, and long-term opportunity across the Asia–Pacific.
