The Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Dunne, Board Director and Chairman of the Investment Committee at Cbus Super Fund, as Chair of the IGCC Management Committee, and Helga Birgden, Global Business Leader, Responsible Investment at Mercer Investments, as Deputy Chair.
The IGCC was established in 2005 and today has around 70 members, including Australian and New Zealand institutional investors managing over $2 trillion in assets under management, focused on the investment implications of climate change.

Investors with more than $2 trillion in assets under management welcome today’s launch of the New Zealand Green Investment Finance fund by the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Climate Change Minister James Shaw as a welcome step to achieve net zero emissions.
“Unlocking investment requires robust, investment-grade policies to reduce emissions in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement and achieving net zero emissions,” Emma Herd, CEO of the Investor Group on Climate Change said.

The ALP’s energy policy announcements today present significant risks and rewards to achieving net zero emissions, say investors with more than $2 trillion in assets under management.
“Unlocking investment in the electricity sector requires robust, investment-grade policies to reduce emissions in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement,” Emma Herd, CEO of the Investor Group on Climate Change said.

Ahead of the Council of Australian Governments Energy Council meeting this week, IGCC has joined a broad coalition of industry, environmental and civil society groups in calling for emissions reductions policy to be addressed as a key part of the “energy trilemma”.
The statement notes that “investors will only view policy as durable if it effectively addresses all parts of the trilemma, including meeting emissions reduction commitments”.
