Investor Practice

We help build our members’ capacity to;
  • integrate climate risk and opportunities in their investment processes, and
  • manage their portfolios in line with net zero.

Through working groups, resources, and masterclasses we provide a forum to share experiences, and access to international experts, peer learning, and the latest technical guidance.

Our approach and tools mainly draw on the Net Zero Investment Framework (NZIF) – a globally recognised and widely used methodology by and for investors who have made a net zero commitment .

The team works with IGCC members on implementing net zero commitments and translating those into leading climate-related practices.

Each year investors are making more progress, but we know that acceleration is crucial for meeting climate goals, and serving their beneficiaries.

The good news is that there are now excellent tools and collaborative initiatives that investors can and must use to move faster than ever before.
Helping investors set and reach 2030 milestones is core to IGCC’s work, as is building resilience to the physical risks from climate change.

Global Climate Investment Initiatives

With more than 350 investors committed globally, the two initiatives catalyse financial flows to support decarbonisation and investment in climate solutions.

Under the initiative asset managers and owners;

  • develop and implement climate action plans;
  • undertake stewardship such as engaging with investee companies and other assets;
  • engage with policy makers; and
  • report annually on their strategy and progress.
The initiatives are partners to the UN Climate Champion’s Race to Zero campaign and alliances of the Glasgow Finance Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ).
